We are looking for a seasoned Mechanical Production Engineer / Sr. Engineer to lead the end-to-end production of Special Purpose Machines (SPMs). The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in vendor coordination, in-house fabrication, minor machining, and precision assembly. A background in Twin Screw Extruder assembly is a significant advantage.
Vendor Management & Parts Procurement
• Identify, evaluate, and develop vendors for mechanical components and fabricated parts.
• Ensure timely procurement of quality parts as per design specifications and tolerances.
• Monitor vendor performance, lead times, and cost-effectiveness.
• Conduct technical discussions with suppliers to resolve quality or dimensional issues.
In-House Fabrication & Minor Machining
• Supervise fabrication of frames, brackets, and custom parts using welding, cutting, and machining processes.
• Ensure proper use of jigs, fixtures, and gauges to maintain dimensional accuracy.
• Coordinate with maintenance and toolroom teams for fixture development and upkeep.
SPM Assembly & Alignment
• Lead mechanical assembly of SPMs, ensuring correct fitment, torque settings, and alignment.
• Use alignment tools (dial indicators, etc.) to achieve precision.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues during trial runs and FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing).
• Collaborate with design and quality teams to resolve tolerance stack-up and interference issues.
Documentation & Process Control
• Maintain production schedules, alignment logs, and quality records.
• Implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
• Drive continuous improvement through root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Maintain production records, alignment logs, and deviation reports in line with cGMP documentation practices.
Regulatory Compliance (21 CFR & cGMP)
• Ensure all production activities comply with 21 CFR Part 11 and cGMP guidelines for equipment used in pharmaceutical or regulated industries.
• Maintain documentation, traceability, and validation protocols as per FDA and quality system requirements.
• Support audits and inspections by regulatory bodies and customers.
Team Leadership
• Manage and mentor shop floor technicians and supervisors.
• Plan manpower allocation and shift schedules based on project priorities.
• Train and mentor production staff on GMP-compliant practices, safety, and quality standards, plus accountability
• Plan manpower and resource allocation to meet project timelines.
• Diploma/Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering.
• 6–8 years of experience in SPM production, with exposure to vendor management and fabrication.
• Strong understanding of mechanical drawings, GD&T, and tolerance analysis.
• Hands-on experience with alignment tools and mechanical troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with ERP systems, BOMs, and production planning tools.
• Experience with Twin Screw Extruder assembly is a plus.
• Experience in Twin Screw Extruder assembly, including screw-barrel alignment and torque balancing.
• Exposure to polymer processing or compounding equipment.
• Knowledge of ISO/TS quality systems and lean manufacturing practices.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines with a solution-oriented mindset.
